Missing kayaker search continues

The search continues for a missing kayaker off the southwest coast of Cape Breton.

Several search crews were covering both water and land thinking 32 year old Jason William McGrath may have made it to shore somewhere and is on foot now. His kayak was found tuesday night near Judique Interval in Inverness County after he set off from across St. George’s Bay on Sunday. His family says McGrath can’t swim and doesn’t like wearing a life-jacket.

Funding for Acadian Day celebrations

Dozens of National Acadian Day events in Atlantic Canada are getting a million dollars from Ottawa. Heritage Minister Melanie Joly in Moncton announced funding for 59 projects, including Grand-Pre 2017 in the Annapolis Valley.

Joly says the money is part of the Canada 150 Fund and will give Acadian communities the chance to show off their cultural heritage on August 15th.
