Acadian Day celebrations

Dozens of National Acadian Day events in Atlantic Canada are getting a million dollars from Ottawa. Heritage Minister Melanie Joly in Moncton yesterday announced funding for 59 projects, including the Festival acadien de Caraquet.

Joly says the money is part of the Canada 150 Fund and will give Acadian communities the chance to show off their cultural heritage on August 15th.

One in hospital, two sought after home invasion

Police are still looking for two suspects after a home invasion in Porter’s Lake while a third recovers in hospital.

Three men broke into a house on Old Fairbanks Road but the two residents fought back and manage to get ahold of one of the guns. They began shooting and wounded one of the suspects who fled. The wounded man was arrested a short time later and police are still looking for the other two.
