Police say the two men involved were known to each other and it was not a random act.

Sydney Playground Improvements Threatened by Land Dispute

Major upgrades to a Sydney playground are being threatened by an ownership dispute between the municipality and the subdivision’s original developer. The Cantley Village Recreation Association was able to raise 100-thousand-dollars for the playground upgrades but the owner of Cantley Developments Ltd, Vernon D. MacKillop, apparently still has the deed to the land. Local Councillor Steve Gillespie tells the CBC that he believes the Cape Breton Regional Municipality is the rightful owner – having operated a playground and recreation space at the site for decades. If the dispute ends up in the courts some of the time sensitive grant money raised for the play ground improvements maybe lost.
