Province approves special warrants for capital spending, operating

The province has approved special warrants of $1.06 billion for capital spending and operating expenses.  Special warrants provide funds for government when there is no budget, and are common and necessary before budgets are passed in the fall.  The government had two previous special warrants this fiscal year.

Free naloxone kits to be available across NS

Free naloxone kits are set to be publicly available as of September 1st.  They’ll be at 300 community pharmacies across Nova Scotia, with Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang saying the province is still studying whether other measures to curb opioid deaths will be brought in.  Fatality numbers will also be posted online, and first responders will share more information with each other.
