Three taken to hospital from serious crash

Police say alcohol was a factor in a serious two-vehicle crash in Grand Lake that sent three people to hospital.

The accident happened early Saturday on Highway 2 at Grand Lake.  Police say a truck collided with a compact car. Three people were taken to hospital with one of the two occupants in the truck suffering serious injuries. RCMP have determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Springhill lockdown ends

A lockdown at the Springhill Institution is over. It was instituted for most of last week after two guards were assaulted.

Prisoners were locked in their cells all week and visits were banned. Correctional Service Canada says 19 inmates were involved in the incident. One inmate was also injured and required hospital treatment. He’s back in the prison. The correctional officers suffered only minor injuries.
