Mint apologizes for coin

The Canadian Mint has now apologized and will release a new silver coin next year to honour the 75th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid in World War II.

Veterans here objected to the original version which called it a “battle” not a raid.

The mint originally defended the design but has now apologized. Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe M-P Ginette Petitpas Taylor says a new silver coin will be released next year but the current coin will remain available as part of a suite of coins honouring sacrifices made during both World Wars.

Mounties look for witnesses to robbery

RCMP are asking the public for help in finding a witness to a robbery in Moncton a week and a half ago.

A teenage boy was riding his bike near the intersection of Lester Street and Main Street in Moncton around 2:00am on July 15th when two men attacked him and stole his cellphone and headphones. The teen told RCMP there were two people sitting nearby who may have seen it happen and the Mounties would like to talk to them.
