Millions to renovate major government office building

Premier Brian Gallant says the building housing most government offices in Fredericton will undergo major renovations.

The Centennial Building will undergo an estimated $76 million in work and a new courthouse will be built at the site starting later this year.

The King Street facade will be restored while the back wing will be replaced with the courthouse. The work should be done by 2021.

Freeland versus Russia

A spokesman for the new foreign affairs minister says Ottawa isn’t interested in bargaining with Russia.

Chrystia Freeland was put on the Kremlin’s sanctions list in 2014 in retaliation for the sanctions Canada imposed on Russia over the invasion of Crimea. Freeland’s people are rejecting suggestions from Moscow it could lift its sanctions against Freeland in exchange for Canada lifting sanctions against Russia.
