PM defends helicopter ride

Prime Minister Trudeau doesn’t see any ethical dilemma in using a private helicopter supplied by the Aga Khan during a vacation over Christmas.

Trudeau says the chopper was the only way to get to his longtime friend’s secluded Bahamian island. He’s happy to discuss it with the Conflict of Interest Commissioner. Tories have already asked Mary Dawson to investigate.

Morningstar sentence

19 year old Devin Morningstar has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 25 years for his part in the killing of Baylie Wylie in Moncton in December 2015.

Morningstar was sentenced yesterday by Justice John Walsh for first degree murder. The Times and Transcript reports the judge said he agreed with Morningstar that he was not a monster…but that he will be held accountable for his actions in Wylie’s death.  Walsh speculated on how it’s possible society can produce a circumstance where a young man could be tortured to death for incomprehensible reasons.

19 year old Tyler Noel is due to go to trial on a first degree murder charge in October. 20 year old Marissa Shephard is due in court for a preliminary hearing in may.
