Moncton hires consultant to raise money for events centre

The city of Moncton is going to spend money to make money…it hopes. It is paying a Toronto firm $351,000 to help it generate donations from the public for the $100 million events centre.

It’s hiring Ketchum Canada to develop a strategy to raise $5 million in donations from the public. But first the company is getting $30,000 to determine if raising $5 million in public donations is even feasible.

Moncton supports Ellen’s Law

Moncton city council has voted unanimously to support Ellen’s Law.

It voted to send a letter to the provincial government to change the rules to keep motorists at least a metre away when passing cyclists.
