Halifax men charged with assaulting Dennis Oland in prison

Two Halifax-area men with violent criminal records have been charged with assaulting Dennis Oland while he was imprisoned at the Atlantic Institution in Renous last summer.

Oland is free now after his murder conviction was overturned and a new trial ordered.

Cody Alexander Muise and Aaron Marriott have been charged with attacking Oland at the end of July. They’ll be back in court in Miramichi next month. Muise is serving life for first degree murder while Marriott has a 15 year sentence for attempted murder.

Climate change on the St. John River

An environmental group has identified key climate change hazards for communities along the St. John River including more power outages, groundwater contamination and telecommuniations disruptions.

WWF-Canada says we’re already seeing more extreme flooding events, blizzards and ice due to climate change. It has set up a website where people can take a closer look at projected climate change impacts. It includes suggestions on how Woodstock, Hartland and Florenceville-Bristol can adapt.
