Boater charged in hit and run

A hit and run at sea has resulted in impaired driving charges against a 32 year old man.

RCMP say two boats collided in Shediac Bay. Investigators say the boat responsible for the collision took off but was later found while docking at the wharf in Grand-Barachois. They arrested the operator on a charge of impaired operation of a boat and he’ll be in court in October. Nobody was hurt in the collision.

Hopewell Rocks are busier than ever

Business is booming at Hopewell Rocks.

Canada’s 150th birthday is being given credit for attracting a lot more visitors to the Rocks. Over 230,000 people toured the site last year…and visitation is said to be up 13% so far this year. Guide Kevin Snair says the number of visitors they’ve had is more typical of the height of the tourism season in late July and August….a good sign this season will set a new standard for visitation.
