An announcement is expected thursday from the Supreme Court of Canada on whether it will review the Dennis Oland murder case.

The provincial Court of Appeal has already overturned his conviction and ordered a new trial. His lawyers, however, have asked the SCOC to acquit him of second-degree murder while the Crown wants the conviction reinstated.

Rescuing whales is a dangerous business…and a whale rescuer has died in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Details are still scarce but CBC reports Joe Howlett, of Campobello Island, was killed yesterday while trying to rescue a whale in the Gulf. DFO has only confirmed there was a death aboard one of its vessels.
