Nursing home beds

The expansion of a nursing home in Moncton is complete. Beds are ready…but empty, according to CBC.

The province has told Villa du Repos it can’t open the 60 new beds until it has hired sufficient staff to look after residents. The current 126 beds are all full. The Social Development department says the home is recruiting staff now

The head of the New Brunswick Council of Nursing Home Unions Wayne Brown told CBC there are some 500 senior citizens — many of whom are occupying hospital beds — waiting to get into nursing homes.

Charges in Sackville holdup

A 27 year old man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Sackville gas station earlier this month.

RCMP arrested Tanar Sears in connection with the holdup March 12th, when a masked man with a knife robbed the gas station and away with some cash.

Sears was in court yesterday and remanded until a bail hearing today.
