A navy frigate, based on the west coast, played a big part in an international anti-drug trafficking mission. Over 14 tonnes of cocaine was intercepted and seized off the coasts of Central and South America. HMCS Saskatoon helped in one of them involving about a tonne of coke.

In the NHL…the Leafs beat the Panthers 3-2. Canadiens downed Dallas 4-1. Jets edged the Devils 4-3 in a shootout. The Senators lost their shootout with the Flyers 3-2. The Oilers grabbed a playoff spot by beating the Kings 2-1. The Canucks were eliminated from playoff contention by losing 4-1 to Anaheim. Bruins beat the Predators 4-1.
