Potato chip recall

Miss Vickie’s is recalling its jalapeno-flavoured, kettle-cooked potato chips.

That’s because of a recent recall by a supplier of the seasonings used in the chips because of possible salmonella contaimination.

So far, only the jalapeno-flavoured Miss Vickie’s kettle cooked potato chips with Guaranteed Fresh dates of June 20 or earlier are affected. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting an investigation which may lead to a recall of other products.

Spying case

A Canadian, charged with spying for China, wants a judge to grant his lawyers access to all the information on C-SIS wiretaps at the Chinese embassy in Ottawa.

Qing Quentin Huang says federal secrecy rules has made it extremely difficult to defend himself against espionage charges.  He was arrested in December of 2013 in Burlington, Ontario and has been free on bail.
