A necropsy has been completed on an eighth endangered right whale found dead in the Gulf. The necropsy was completed on the weekend on Miscou Island. The initial findings have not yet been released and it’s expected to take weeks for tissues samples to be analyzed.
Necropsies on the other whales found dead over the past month have revealed evidence of blunt force trauma from boat strikes in some and signs of fishing gear entanglement in others.
