Questions about developers plans for former high school

At least one Moncton City Councillor is concerned the city hasn’t heard from one of the proponents which wants to develop the former Moncton High School property.

CBC reports Shawn Crossman says there’s a lack of information about the plans by Terra Trust and Bird Construction to turn the old high school into a private development. The other proposal is from MH Rennaissance which wants to turn the building into an arts centre with the library as an anchor tenant. Crossman says people are asking just what Terra Trust and Bird Construction have planned and haven’t been getting any answers.

His motion has been added to council’s agenda for June 5.

Bus driver shortage

Codiac Transpo has hired a private bus company to cover two and maybe more bus routes in the city for the summer because of a shortage of drivers, according to CBC.

City Council has voted to provide $175,000 for a temporary deal with Coach Atlantic to service two routes…the seasonal school bus shuttle from Plaza Boulevard to Magnetic Hill and the overflow 64B line that serves the hospitals.

Marie Clair-Pierce, senior planner for the bus service, says they would hire new drivers, get them trained and ready to go and then someone else would retire or go on medical leave.
