More calls for inquiry into triple-murder suicide in NS

Veterans advocate Peter Stoffer is calling on both provincial and federal governments to hold a public inquiry into the triple murder-suicide in Upper Big Tracadie, Nova Scotia, in January.

Stoffer, a former NDP MP, says what happened to Lionel Desmond and his family screams out for a public inquiry. He has written letters to the defence minister as well as the Premier pointing out the many system failures that caused Desmond, the Afghan war vet who suffered from PTSD, to kill his mother, wife and daughter before killing himself. This week, Nova Scotia’s medical examiner refused to hold a fatalty inquiry into the deaths.

Military spending

The Trudeau Government will be spending an extra $62 billion over the next twenty years on the military. It’ll be spent mainly on equipment such as the ships and fighter-jets…but also to add about 3,500 new personnel.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg praised the announcement saying it affirms Canada’s unwavering commitment to the treaty organization.

President Donald Trump gave our Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan a big thumbs up for his announcement. Naturally Trump is taking credit for it…even though the review has been underway since long before he took office.
