Miscou Island fire

A couple of dozen people on Miscou Island off the Acadian Peninsula have been evacuated because of forest fires.

It appears to have started Saturday near a garage or shed and then spread into the woods. At last report it covered about 90 hectares. Dozens of fire fighters and several water bombers have been brought in to try to get it under control

The evacuated homes are near Wilson’s Point, although no damage has been reported to them.

BC fires and PM

Prime Minister Trudeau will take a first hand look at the fires in BC today.

Trudeau and several of his cabinet ministers will join Premier John Horgan at Williams Lake for an update on the situation. The evacuation order there was lifted last week…but at least 150 fires are still burning across the province and about 6,000 evacuees can’t go home.
