C-SIS broke the law on surveillance of citizens
The head of Canada’s spy agency says C-SIS is reviewing a court decision that went against it. Meanwhile, Michel Coulombe says the agency has halted all access to the information at the heart of the ruling made public yesterday.
Federal Court Justice Simon Noel says the agency has been illegally keeping potentially revealing electronic data about people who pose no security threat.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the government welcomes the decision, and will not appeal. He also said the laws governing C-SIS may need updating.
