Winter parking

It may not feel like it this week but winter is coming…and so is Moncton’s winter parking ban. It will go into effect December 1st, according to the Times and Transcript. No overnight parking on any street in Moncton between midnight and 7:00am. Parked vehicles will be fined and maybe towed.

However, there will be an exception downtown because of a pilot project in the New Year.  The city’s website will have a map showing downtown streets where parking will be allowed if the weather isn’t threatening.

Soaring Spirits Moncton

There’s a new group in the Moncton area to help widows and widowers called Soaring Spirits Moncton.

Christelle Léger, whose husband died five years ago, got together with Nadine Larche whose husband Doug was one of the Mounties killed here in 2014. They talked about losing a partner and how it helps when the other person knows what you’re going through.

Leger told CBC they’re not counsellors, there’s no group counselling…they just want to get people together which is therapeutic in itself.

Soaring Spirits Moncton’s first event will be held November 23 at Vito’s restaurant on Mountain Road. Interested participants can RSVP through the group’s Facebook page.
