Seniors versus government – round 2?

Seniors are preparing to do battle with the provincial government again….this time over privacy issues, according to the Times and Transcript.

Cecile Cassista, Executive Director, of the Coalition of Seniors and Nursing Home Residents, says legislation introduced by the Gallant Government would allow the Social Development Department to access Revenue Canada files to gain access to seniors’ financial information. She says the government promised not to go down that road again…and she’s shocked they have.

Last year, the Gallant Government tried to start dipping into nursing home residents’ bank accounts and investments to pay for their care. That died after a public outcry.
