SPCA investigates Bathurst dog breeder

The SPCA is investigating a Bathurst dog breeder, according to CBC.

Pet owners from Saint John, Moncton, Bathurst and even Nova Scotia say the puppies they purchased from Lisa Chiasson had severe health problems, including parvovirus, a highly contagious infection that can be fatal. Seven people filed complaints after five of the dogs died and two got sick.

The SPCA says Chiasson, who also goes by the name Tanya White, has come to their attention in the past.

Another American busted for guns at our border

The Canada Border Services Agency seized a cache of weapons last month from a pair of travellers trying to enter the country at St. Stephen.

Border agents at the 3rd Bridge port of entry found four Tasers, five cans of pepper spray, a loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .357 Magnum when they searched a motorhome. All are prohibited in Canada. One of the travellers was fined $2,300 after pleading guilty to Customs Act violations.
