Preem and PM chat at 35,000 feet

Premier Brian Gallant travelled on the Prime Minister’s plane from the Francophonie Summitt in Madagascar in the weekend and had some face to face time with Justin Trudeau.

Gallant says they talked about climate change decisions and he also made a last minute pushed for more healthcare money from Ottawa. He and the rest of the premiers will be meeting with Trudeau in about a week about that.

Trudeau on Castro

Prime Minister Trudeau was busy yesterday clarifying a statement released after Fidel Castro’s death.

Trudeau says Castro was a dictator, but that doesn’t mean it’s not appropriate to acknowledge his achievements at the time of his passing.

Trudeau got a lot of flack both in Canada and abroad over a statement expressing deep sorrow after Castro’s death was announced. The Prime Minister says he understands some people affected by the Castro regime will have a different view.
