Marriage under the age of 16 will not be allowed in New Brunswick under proposed amendments to legislation. Service New Brunswick Minister Ed Doherty says the changes to the Marriage Act bring the province in line with federal rules. He says Ottawa asked the provinces to make the change last year. Doherty says people between the ages of 16 and 18 will need parental or judicial consent under the changes.

Province Reaches Deal with NB School Workers
The province has signed a collective agreement with CUPE Local 1253. The union represents about 1700 school bus drivers, custodians, maintenance and repair staff, forepersons and other tradespeople in our school districts. The five-year contract includes an annual 1% wage increase.
