Mandatory winter tires?

There’s a new push to make winter tires mandatory in New Brunswick. Right now only Quebec and parts of BC make winter tires the law.

Brunswick News reports Graham Neill of Lincoln has been lobbying for 20 years to make winter tires mandatory for the snowy months and now some politicians are listening.

Green Leader David Coon would like to see the law changed, although he admits there would have to be allowances made for low-income drivers.
Transportation Minister Bill Fraser said he uses winter tires…but thinks there’s merit in considering a new law.

Ski hills open

It’s time to strap on the skis and snowboards again.

Three ski hills opened around the province on the weekend. Poley Mountain in Sussex, Crabbe Mountain in Central Hainesville and Mont Farlagne in Saint-Jacques are ready to go. Sugarloaf Park in Atholville still has to ope3n.
