Fire Leaves Family of Six Homeless in Drummond, NB

A fire in Drummond, NB on Friday night has left a family of six temporarily homeless. The CBC is reporting that fire crews were called to the blaze around 6pm and located an electrical fire in an exterior wall. No one was inured. The family of six, including four children under the age of 13, are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The home, located just east of grand falls in Western New Brunswick, is thought to be salvageable but it’s not known if the family will be able to return home before Christmas.

Hampton’s Kredl’s Market Given 30 More Days

70 employees at Kredl’s Corner Market in Hampton NB will keep their jobs through Christmas but their long term future remains in jeopardy. On Friday the owner of Kredl’s Market was given a 30-day reprieve from being forced into bankruptcy. The popular Hampton market owes money to several creditors, including 1.4 million-dollars to Farm Credit Canada. Kredl’s now has 30 days to seek a deal with its creditors with the bankruptcy hearing now adjourned until January 17th. Kredl’s market first opened its doors in 1980.
