Funeral services for William (Bill) Malenfant will be held Wednesday at Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church in Dieppe.

The city’s longest serving mayor passed away Friday at the age 87. Malenfant served as Dieppe’s mayor from 1971 to 1977. Then he went into  provincial politics serving two terms as the area’s MLA. Then he won the Mayor’s seat again 1982.

The public is invited to sign a book of condolences in the lobby of Dieppe City Hall during business hours.

Environment Canada says the messy weather we got over the weekend may have tapered off but it’s freezing solid now as the temperatures plunge. You may have to take a hair dryer out to unfreeze the locks on your car this morning and then tug on the door to get it open.

The quick freeze may also have made some roads a little icy where they haven’t laid down salt.
