In the NHL…the Leafs blanked the Avalnche 6-0.  Minnesota downed Montreal 4-2.   Jets handled Vancouver 4-1. The Senators  edged Anaheim 2-1.  Bruins beat the Panthers 3-1. with Jaromir Jagr getting an asst and moving past Mark Messier into second place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list.

In football…Philadelphia prevented the Giants from clinching an NFL playoff berth with a 24-19 win.

In baseball…it looks as if Edwin Encarnacion will be going to Cleveland in a three-year deal worth $65 million.

NB, feds sign 10-year health agreement

The provincial and federal governments have signed a new 10-year health agreement.  New Brunswick will see increased federal funding, with an estimated $230 million more for home care and mental health.  Annual transfer payments will go up 3% or the rate of national GDP, whichever is higher.  It’s worth an estimated $1.2 billion over 10 years to New Brunswick.
