Santa Tracking

A joint U-S-Canada military operation is launching one of its most crucial annual missions today.

The North American Aerospace Defence Command, or NORAD, will be tracking Santa Claus as he travels around the world.

Beginning at 4 a-m local time, volunteers at the base in Colorado Springs will take calls from children around the world.

Kids — and adults — can also email, or keep an eye on NORAD’s website, Facebook page or Twitter feed to track Santa’s progress.

Health Deals

The federal health minister says she’s willing to talk to more provinces about health-care funding, after three of them reached separate agreements with Ottawa.

Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador have joined New Brunswick in negotiating bilateral deals with the feds.

The arrangements have chipped away at the once-united opposition to Ottawa’s funding proposal, which includes targeted money for home care and mental health.

Jane Philpott says federal officials are still working the phones to negotiate with the remaining provinces.
