Hundreds stranded when chairlift breaks

As many as 250 people were stuck in the air when a chairlift at Crabbe Mountain broke down yesterday afternoon.

Crabbe’s General Manager Jordan Cheney told the Daily Gleaner his staff train for a situation like this two or three times a season and knew what to do. He says they led the rescue efforts and had people unloaded from the 116 chairs in about two hours with the help of fire fighters from several departments.

Nobody was hurt.
