Miramichi Couple Receives Ransom Call for Missing Dog

A Miramichi couple whose dog vanished on December 28th received a call days later from someone claiming to be holding the animal for ransom. Denise Ramsay’s 12 year-old German Shepherd and golden retriever mix named Sadie failed to return after being let outside on the night of December 28th. On New Years Day she and her husband received a call demanding ransom payment of two-hundred-dollars for the dogs return. The call came from a blocked number and the caller hung up when they realized Denise Ramsey had a 911 operator listening in on the call. The dog remains missing and Miramichi police are skeptical that the caller actually had possession of the animal. A thousand-dollar reward is now being offered for Sadie’s safe return.
