No school closures in Cole Harbour

The Education Minister has abruptly cancelled a review of the Auburn Drive and Cole Harbour District high families of schools. It was ordered because the province decided to build a new high school in Eastern Passage draining students from the other two.

The School Board got the final report of the school options committee in June but hadn’t voted on it. Then last week it got a letter from Zach Churchill to stop the school review and don’t start another one until he says so.

Four French schools closing

Four French schools in southwest Nova Scotia will be closing.

C-SAP voted to close the elementary schools in Salmon River and Saulnierville after the next school year. Then the schools in Church Point and Meteghan will close in 2022. The school board says it will now focus on building a new centrally located elementary school to replace the four that are closing.
