Committee disappointed with minister cancelling school reviews

The Co-chair of the school review committee looking at Cole Harbour and Auburn Drive High families of schools is disappointed with Education Minister Zach Churchill’s order to halt any current reviews.

Co-chair Corrie Anderson told the Chronicle-Herald she’s hoping it’s just a delay and not a final decision. The committee’s final report was to be tabled at the school board meeting tomorrow then voted on in August…and she hopes the Board will received the report and take its recommendations seriously.

Funding for recreational facilities on south shore

A skate park in Bridgewater is one of six South Shore projects receving grants to encourage physical activity.  The multi-use park will provide year-round family activities, and is getting $73,000 in provincial funding.  These grants help community groups, municipalities and other non-profits develop facilities to increase public participation in sport and physical recreation.
