Halifax firefighters had to call in a fire in their fire truck yesterday while they were answering a fire call.
Flames began shooting from under the truck and the cab began filling with smoke as they drove down West Porter’s Lake Road. Everyone got out okay. They got an extinguisher and contained the fire to the engine compartment before a second fire truck got there and put it out.
The family of a murdered Mi’kmaq woman will now be able to lay her to rest beside her mother.
They are also hoping this will encourage someone to come forward with information about the killing of Tanya Jean Brooks who was found beside a Halifax school in 2009. Because she was murdered, police witheld part of her brain as evidence…but now they have returned it to the family and a smudging ceremony was held.
