It’s a fairly quiet campaign day for major-party leaders.  Progressive Conservative Jamie Ballie, New Democrat Gary Burrill and Liberal Stephen McNeil will participate in tonight’s Leaders Roundtable at Saint Mary’s University.  The NDP also has a policy announcement this morning at the Halifax Infirmary, while the Tories hit the Penhorn Medical Clinic for a photo-op.

Healthcare is the current election focus for the PCs and NDP.  Tory Leader Jamie Baillie says ER closures, doctor shortages and a lack of mental health services have become a crisis, while New Democrat Gary Burrill agrees and says there can be improvements with proper funding, setting priorities and working with professionals.  Liberal Premier Stephen McNeil says while there are challenges, short-term fixes won’t solve them.
