Noisy ships

A new report says DFO employees in the Maritimes were not warned for seven months about a serious noise hazard that could cause hearing loss. The problem was on board four of the department’s vessels.

Public Sector Integrity Commissioner Joe Friday tabled a report in Parliament outlining the results of the investigation of wrongdoing launched after a whistleblower came forward. The commissioner’s report didn’t define the precise source of the noise.

Changes coming to cellphone regulations

Prime Minister Trudeau has flatly rejected a tax on internet service…and the government is changing regulations to make cellphone rules more customer friendly.

For instance, in December, all new cellphones will be unlocked….and telecom companies will have to unlock phones free if a customer wants to change carriers. That will allow for more flexibility because customers won’t be tethered to providers because of the fees to leave…and it should spark more competition.
