Six North Atlantic Right Whales have been found dead in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
The Marine Animal Response Society fears the rising toll could be catastrophically critical for the endangered species. The deaths represent about 1% of the total Right Whale population still believed to be in the area.
The society joined an expedition of scientists to examine one of the dead whales at sea to collect biological samples in hopes of determining the cause of death.
RCMP say they prevented a plot to commit break and enters and armed robberies in Kentville and Annapolis Royal.
The Mounties got a tip late last week about three people planning to commit the crimes and later found them in a vehicle. They also found a replica handgun, knife and bandanas.
23 year old Kaileyne Laura Anne Thomas, 20 year old Joel Andre Gaudet and 18 year old Logan Cromwell, who are all from Digby County, are facing numerous charges in court today.
