Physician-assisted dying

16 Nova Scotians have chosen physician-assisted dying since the rules changed. The Health Authority released the numbers yesterday after previously keeping the numbers secret citing confidentiality concerns.

Sheila Sperry with Dying with Dignity Canada was surprised at the numbers telling CBC she thought it would have been somewhere between 20 and 25. Sperry thinks the numbers could allay fears of people whio predicted a rush of physician-assisted suicides.

Cobequid Pass

Looks as if we’ll be paying tolls on the Cobequid Pass a lot longer than expected.

Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie says the McNeil Government in June quietly extended the deal to keep the tolls on the Cobequid Pass until 2026. They were due to come off in 2018. Baillies say motorists are not paying tolls to get a better road, they’re paying tolls to improve the Liberal balance sheet.
