The Utility and Review Board now has the authority to impose financial penalties on Nova Scotia Power for not meeting customer service standards. The province proclaimed this last section of the Electricity Plan Implementation Act today as the board continues setting performance standards for service reliability and storm response, and customer service. Penalties would be paid by the utility without affecting customer rates.

More Atlantic Canadians using winter tires: TRAC survey
A new Tire and Rubber Association of Canada survey shows Atlantic Canadians are using winter tires in record numbers. 81% of us put them on now, with a 2014 poll showing 73%. Among those not using winter tires, 40% say they don’t drive enough during the season, 19% believe all-seasons are good enough and 5% point to cost.
