Lower Water Street will have day closures for the long weekend. It’ll be closed from 9:00am-9:00pm between George and Prince Streets from tomorrow to Monday so it can be used by pedestrians headed to the waterfront for all the activities there over the Canada Day weekend.

Millions for septic systems along the LaHave
The three levels of government have pledged over $15 million for the cleanup of the LaHave River.
The money will go mainly to helping homeowners along the river to install septic systems because right now there are about 600 pipes dumping raw sewage straight into the water.
The cleanup is in large part thanks to a 13 year old girl, according to CBC. Stella Bowes was told by her mother in 2015 she couldn’t go swimming in the river because it was too dirty. Bowes, as a school science project, began testing the water for contamination and posting the results on Facebook. That caught the attention of the municipal politicians who got to work on fixing the problem.
