Africville lawsuit

Lawyers for former Africville residents will be in court today and tomorrow for a hearing on a proposed class action lawsuit against the city.

They argue there was inadequate compensation for residents when the city expropriated their homes in the 1960s for the MacKay bridge. The lawsuit has yet to be certified as a class-action. That’s what the hearings today and tomorrow will determine.
