They still don’t know what’s been killing herring in St. Mary’s Bay and Annapolis Basin.
David Whorley at Fisheries and Oceans Canada says they’ve run all sorts of tests but haven’t come up with a cause as to why tens of thousands of dead fish have been washing ashore in recent weeks. There’s no evidence of viruses or harmful bacteria. He warns people coming across the fish on the shore to report it…but not to handle them as a precaution.
