The Halifax Port Authority says there’s no conflict of interest with its newest board member. Southwest Properties Chair and CEO Jim Spatz was appointed by the federal government in May. To ensure no perception of a conflict, Spatz won’t be involved in port real estate matters.

Pedestrian hit by bus, ticketed for illegal crossing
There was a bus-pedestrian accident last night at Chebucto and Connaught.
A pedestrian walked in front of the bus which swerved to the right and hit another vehicle, but the pedestrian was also clipped by the bus’s mirror. He was taken to hospital and is getting a ticket for crossing against the light.
