Motorcycle crash closes Cabot Trail

A man has been airlifted to hospital in Halifax with serious injuries after a motorcycle accident on the Cabot Trail.

RCMP say the man crashed his bike into a guard rail between Pleasant Bay and MacKenzie Mountain around 11:00 yesterday morning. No other vehicles were involved. The Cabot Trail was closed for several hours in the area.

Whale necropsies

An expert says it appears two of those dead Right Whales were hit by ships in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

More details of the necropsies are being released. Tonya Wimmer of the Marine Animal Response Society says a third got snarled in fishing gear. They’re still waiting for biological test results to see if something else may have affected the whale’s behaviour or caused their deaths.
