City being sued by developer

Halifax Regional Municipality is being sued by a development company for over $119 million.

Annapolis Group has served notice it wants compensation claiming the city acted in bad faith when it rejected the companies plans for the Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lake area. It points out the land had been rezoned in 2006. It says those lands were effectively expropriated without compensation. The municipality rejected the plans after fierce opposition from the public.

Attempted restaurant robbery

RCMP are investigating after a man tried to rob a Lower Sackville restaurant early yesterday morning.

The man tried to grab the cash register around 2:00am but was chased off empty-handed by staff and customers. Nobody was hurt.
