Restigouche Regional Service Commission tourism plans

The Restigouche Regional Service Commission is organizing a meeting and a meet-and-greet with those within the commission’s boundaries with an interest in building tourism.

The Tribune says that mayor Stephanie Anglehart-Paulin of Campbellton feels that a regional approach to tourism is needed in the area.

Some local officials believe that the area was missing out “big time” on winter tourism because it was not pursuing it as well as Bathurst and Edmundston.

Demolition of the Olin chemical plant in Dalhousie is taking place, but a groundwater management system is needed due to groundwater contaminated by mercury.

Marc André Chiasson of the department of environment and local government and office of the attorney general told The Tribune a holding and treatment ponds remedial action plan is being reviewed by the DELG and a response is foreseen next month.
