Campbellton Tigers survey

A survey being done by Campbellton asking your opinion about the future of the Campbellton Tigers hockey team is causing somewhat of a ruckus.

The city wants to know if it should continue to fork over taxpayer’s dollars to assist the team.

Tigers president Ian Comeau contends that the survey included in water bills isn’t a large enough size, sample-wise.

He added that renters don’t get water bills, as that’s included in their rent.

Mayor Stephanie Anglehart-Paulin, like Comeau; wants as many filled out as possible to get a good sample size.

The surveys can be dropped off at either the Memorial Civic Centre or at City Hall.

Campbellton RCMP comments

Corporal Pierre Laviolette of the Campbellton RCMP told The Tribune one of the worst jobs a police officer has is to tell parents that a child had been killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver.

Laviolette adds that he’s been lucky that he hasn’t had to tell a friend about a son or daughter being killed by an impaired driver, but he has had to tell people about the death of loved ones due to other causes.

He was on the scene of the accident in Bathurst in January of 2008, when seven members of the Bathurst High School boys’ basketball team and one adult were killed.
