The sentencing of a 23-year-old from the Restigouche area on charges of incest and sexual assault has been delayed until August.
His name is under a broadcast ban to protect the identity of the victim.
The crown prosecutor made the request, as the crown wants to review the judge’s proposal to disregard the mandatory five-year minimum sentence and instead put him on probation for three years.
The reason for that is that the man himself suffered childhood abuse and has “significant mental health issues.”
