Officials are still trying to figure out where to put the new Hampton Recreation Centre.
The preferred site is beside the old arena and pool…but they’ve found the ground there is a problem. Al Walker, vice-chair of the Hampton Regional Leisure Services Committee told CBC they’ve done some soil testing and drilling at the proposed site but found the bedrock is much deeper than expected. Putting in deeper pilings could add to the cost. Right now, the project’s price tag is $19.8 million.
